Industrial Packaging Buying Guide

Industrial and warehouse packaging is bought differently to retail packaging — the focus is on cost per unit at volume, consistency of stock, and matching materials to how goods are actually handled.

Pallets, crates and drums

Match pallet type (wooden vs plastic) and load rating to what you’re storing and how it moves through your warehouse. Crates and drums are worth standardising across a site so handling equipment and storage racking stay consistent.

Strapping and stretch wrap

Strapping secures loads that need rigidity (cartons on a pallet, bundled stock), while stretch wrap is better for irregular loads and dust/moisture protection. Many warehouses use both together.

Buying in bulk

Industrial packaging is typically bought on ongoing supply arrangements rather than one-off purchases — consistent stock and wholesale pricing matter more here than for occasional retail buyers.
